| My Story: |
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in things electronic. At 16, I started a radio repair business in the back room of my father’s grocery store. During high school and college I worked for various local radio (and later, radio and TV) repair shops. At the same time, I became interested in the emerging field of stereo sound reproduction and designed/constructed a number of home stereo systems . When I finished college, the Korean War was taking place. I joined the Navy and became an Electronics Officer on a Destroyer engaged in anti-submarine warfare. Four years later I began civilian life by getting married and joining the Military Electronics Div. of TRW where I developed devices for disrupting hostile communications. (Note that these were two totally unrelated activities.) Later, I joined Republic Steel - which grew to be LTV Steel - and became head of Nondestructive Evaluation Research and Development. I retired from this position after 32 years. During that period I amassed twelve patents, three children and four grandchildren. Once retired, I operated a consulting business for two years before retiring anew. About that time I learned that WKHR could use some engineering help. I’ve been having great fun there, as Assistant Chief Engineer, ever since. |
